Lou has lived in Calgary since 1969 when his parents emigrated from the Czech Republic. As a result, all of his education from age eleven to and including his law degree took place in Calgary. Lou was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1983 and since then, has assisted tens of thousands of clients with their home purchase, refinancing and sale transactions.

As a leading authority on all aspects of real estate law, Lou is a significant contributor to both the real estate and legal community. Lou instructs law courses across the province to both Realtors and lawyers and is a Law Society of Alberta Mentor to junior lawyers in real estate matters. Qualified by the courts as a legal expert in real estate transactions, he has provided numerous expert opinions on litigation matters involving residential real estate lawyers. Lou also moderates “Legal Lou”, a popular blog on LinkedIn addressing real estate legal issues. In February 2020 he was appointed Bencher of the Law Society of Alberta.

In his spare time, over the past two decades Lou has summited over sixty peaks primarily in the Canadian Rockies West of Calgary, but also as far away as Texas. He and his wife Alice have been married for over 30 years and have two adult children, Domenic and Nicole, who also live and work in Calgary.

Lou recently donated one of his kidneys to a stranger in a chain exchange program to ensure the receipt of a kidney transplant for Alice. He is an active supporter and financial sponsor of the Kidney Foundation of Canada and even participated in the 100km Kidney March to promote awareness of the need for organ donations.

Lou and his team of friendly and qualified real estate paralegals look forward to assisting you with your home purchase, sale or refinance.
