We are looking for an Accounting Clerk for our Internal Customer Services Department to join our team of passionate and dedicated people.

As an Accounting Clerk in our Internal Customer Services Department, you will have the opportunity to work on a vast range of duties.

 

Details we are looking for include:

  • Experience reporting to the Law Society of Alberta.
  • Responsible for monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Data entry, including expense reports and accounts payables.
  • Process transactions in regard to accounts payables, accounts receivables and disbursements.
  • Handling of client billing and trust account.
  • Ensure data is accurate and obtain approval for cheque runs.
  • Preparation of cheque requisition for cheque runs four times per day and Ad hoc runs as needed
  • Opening and closing interest bearing accounts and posting corresponding data.
  • Post wire transfers and EFTs.
  • Post and make corrections as necessary for credit card transactions.
  • Monitor the accounts payable email account.
  • Create and post journal entries
  • Other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, with post-secondary accounting accreditation is required.
  • Proficient with Excel and Word.
  • A strong understanding of professional office administrative requirements and procedures.

As a Legal Assistant in our Litigation Department, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of files in diverse areas, including First Nations Law and Civil Litigation. You will also be responsible for providing valuable mentorship and guidance to our talented and eager junior Legal Assistants.

Details we are looking for include:

  • Draft, review and prepare correspondence, reporting letters, and other legal documentation.
  • Prepare and file pleadings.
  • Prepare and maintain trial binders.
  • Conduct internal conflict searches and respond to audit inquiries.
  • Manage and review disclosure documentation from client and opposing counsel.
  • Prepare disclosure materials.
  • Conduct general research and prepare access to information requests.
  • Maintain client contact and billings including time entry, monthly Statements of Account generation and management of Accounts Receivable.
  • Transcribing dictation recordings.
  • Organize and maintain files and keep filing current.
  • Open and close physical and electronic files.
  • Handle client accounts: prepare cheque requisitions, receive and disburse funds for transactions and other administrative tasks as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Litigation is required.
  • You have a Post-secondary education from a recognized Legal Assistant program.
  • You exhibit attention to detail and are committed to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • You have extensive experience with a document management program such as Eclipse or Summation.
  • You are organized and able to prioritize your work with a proven ability to exercise a high initiative while projecting a tactful and diplomatic approach at all times.
  • You can handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner.
  • You have the ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
  • You have a good sense of humor when times get trying and love helping to build a team environment.

Document Review Lawyer

Civil Litigation Department

Become a part of the Walsh experience.

We are looking for a Document Review Lawyer in our Civil Litigation Department to work on a temporary week-to-week contract, where you will have the opportunity to work with our team of passionate and dedicated people.

As a Document Review Lawyer in our Civil Litigation Department, you will be responsible for processing, reviewing and redacting documents required to be produced in the litigation discovery process, in order to remove confidential and
privileged information.

Details include:

  • Processing, reviewing and redacting information from multiple documents and sources.
  • Work closely with trial lawyers to understand scope of discovery.
  • Week-to-week temporary employment starting immediately.
  • 40 hours per week – Monday through Friday.
  • $40.00 per hour, benefits are not offered for this role.


Qualifications:

  • 1 to 5 years of experience working as a lawyer, either in Canada or abroad. LLM candidates seeking NCA accreditation will be considered.
  • You exhibit attention to detail and are committed to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • You have a working understanding of relevance and materiality as it relates to the discovery process.
  • Previous litigation experience is considered an asset.
  • You are organized and able to prioritize your work with a proven ability to work under deadlines.
  • You are aware of legal obligations regarding confidential information, and are capable of reviewing and processing associated information in an ethical and professional manner.
  • You have the ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.

Details we are looking for include:

  • 7-10 years of post-call experience.
  • Experience at all trial level courts, including the Provincial Court and Court of Queen’s Bench.
  • A solid background in drafting pleadings, conducting questionings, and running trials.
  • Experience with the Federal Court, as well as appellate work.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Experience and a passion for mentoring others.
  • A medium to strong existing practice to build on.
